It’s no secret that mom life comes with rough days attached, and sometimes these kinds of days can start to pile up, creating a feeling of overwhelm that is hard to escape. It’s my belief that when a mama sets time aside to care for herself, even when she believes she doesn’t have time, she’ll find her life much more manageable and productive. I find that a self-care kit is a really useful tool to keep around for those moments of overwhelm because it’s an easy place to go to brainstorm ideas for what our souls are really craving in any stressful moment.
If you’re having a rough day, pull out your self-care kit, take a minute to close your eyes, and put your hand on your heart. Then ask yourself what you need right now. Something might come to mind, or as you begin looking through your kit, the right thing will eventually pop out at you.
Engaging any of your five senses will help your mind come back to the present moment, and remind your brain that you are safe here and now. Tomorrow will take care of itself. Your job at this moment is to restore your soul so that you’ll have the energy to tackle any problems life throws your way.
Here are 33 Items to add to your self-care kit to activate your five senses and calm your soul.
